Session Outline:
Nowadays, critical incidents such as student suicides, gang fights, epidemics or mass food poisoning are not uncommon in schools. Handling media interviews is one of the important communicative tasks that school personnel have to perform in the face of such crises. This course will explain the goals and strategies of crisis management, as well as the culture and operation of the mass media in Hong Kong. In addition, participants will learn the techniques and skills of writing a press release, preparing for a press conference, and taking part in TV and radio interviews. Case discussions and role play will be used.
