A story has a grammar of its own. This course introduces the art and science of story-telling, with a focus on such fundamental narrative techniques as characterisation, plot development, narrative timeline and perspective/focus. The goal is to provide students with the methodology to analyse a story from the aspect of a narrative, which has its own system of coding and decoding. The course will introduce narrative motifs, patterns and formulas, along with a set of illustrative graphics, in order to share the method with secondary school teachers interested in story-telling.
